A list of Maharashtrian Dishes that are must-try while travelling to Mumbai

Maharashtrian cuisine is Marathi people’s cuisine from Maharashtra’s Indian state. Every Maharashtrian you meet is a foodie and can speak about Maharashtrian food non-stop, and they pride themselves on Maharashtrian cuisine’s unique characteristics that differ entirely from what you get in other areas of the nation.
We bow down to the nearly inexhaustible range of street foods offered by this mega state’s local kitchens. Each of them is a gem from misal pav to aamti to bhelpuri. Maharashtrian cuisine is an exciting desi masalas game that uses some of the most organic food products and is all about local styles of cooking.

Poha
This flattened rice chai-time snack is a favorite among all Maharashtrians. There are many methods to prepare a very versatile dish, poha. Kanda poha, produced with onions, is the most popular version. Other versions include batata poha, poha made with diced potatoes, dadpe poha prepared with fresh, shredded fruit, green chilies, ginger, and lime juice and finally kachche pohe, raw poha shredded in a mixture of oil, red chili powder, salt, and unseasoned onion. No matter how you choose to do it, poha will leave you anxious for more.

Pav Bhaji
Maharashtra food without this dish that has become synonymous with the state is incomplete! A delicious mixture of moderately spiced vegetables is served with fresh and thick slices of bread smothered in butter. Every Indian’s heart has won this lip-smacking dish.

Vada Pav
Vada Pav is squeezed between a dense slice of bread, comparable to a burger bun, a delicious, spicy, deep-fried patty made of potato. A spicy mixture of spices and salt is sprinkled between the vada and pav and garnished with a fried, salted green chili. It is an all-day snack, and among Maharashtrians, it is highly common. It is very cost-effective, filling, and easy to access.

Bharli Vangi
This is a famous cooking style stuffed with coconut, onion, jaggery, Marathi goda masala brinjals or child brinjals. Brinjal was never the favorite vegetable of anybody per se. But this food dish from Maharashtra has the ability to kick into this otherwise boring vegetable in life. This ingredient combination is wonderful for the brinjal.

Aamti
The aroma of the renowned Maharashtrian dal, Aamti, makes it easy to recognize a Maharashtrian neighbor. Aamti is one of the famous Maharashtrian dishes that arose from the Vidharba region and spread to areas of Goa and Karnataka as a comfortable yet tasteful preparation of lentils. There are over 50 distinct variants of aamti today, and none of them has a complicated recipe? That’s this convenience dish’s beauty.

Bhelpuri
Bhelpuri is a savory snack that is prevalent in Maharashtra and is discovered on the local roads in abundance. It is produced for a tangy flavor with puffed rice, vegetables, and a tamarind sauce. Bhelpuri is thought to have originated from areas of Maharashtra and has spread to various areas of the nation from there.

Basundi
Basundi is a Maharashtra sweet dish. It is condensed by cooking on low heat the sweetened milk until it becomes half its original volume. To increase the flavor and texture, add sugar, cardamom or saffron.

Sreekhand
Sreekhand is a kind of sweet yogurt, flavored with cardamom powder and saffron, a hit at weddings and Dushera festival. It is generally served with piping, warm puris, and is another Maharashtra food dish which is known throughout the nation.
